Marissa, I know you didn't finish this post, but it was so important that I wanted to comment on it and make sure people saw it. More than half the bankruptcies in this country are caused by health problems. In the richest country in the world, that just shouldn't be. It is also worth noting that many people think bankruptcy is the result of people being irresponsible. As your first sentence notes, it more often is the result of and compounds tragedy -- divorce, illness, job loss.
